TC design

I had the task of designing a van to look cool somehow. When I think of "van", I think of the owner who has a 200 yard court-ordered restriction from his neighborhood elementary school. But I digress. Here's my submission.

Terrell Davis!

It has nothing to do with art/design, but...it's friggin' Terrell Davis from the Denver Broncos!

Cow sketch

My buddy Mark and I are working on a not-so-secret advertising/fine art project. Here's sketch one of four.

The Not So Giving Tree

Here's a dumb cartoon I drew on a Jobster post-it note, based on "The Giving Tree" by Shel Silverstein, about a boy who asks everything of this tree, which the tree happily obliges. (If you haven't read it: http://oldpoetry.com/opoem/60911-Sheldon-Allan-Silverstein-The-Giving-Tree)

It was inspired from last weekend, when I was discussing with a lady at the bus stop about giving the homeless my change. She said she once bought a meal for a pan-handler, only to have the guy place the meal on the ground, ignore it, and then resume asking for money.

Other than being a social commentary, I think the cartoon makes me laugh because of the stunned child's face as the tree tells him off.

Cowboys creative!

Our agency's been tasked with coming up with Dallas Cowboys art. Here's my first couple submissions so far.

Un-inspirational cartoon

Art-wise, I've been really, really melancholy, so I drew up a crappy stick-figure cartoon to reflect that.

Whatever. Lol.

TX Ford Storyboard - Adrenaline

Here's some keyframes for a Texan Bull-rider / Ford commercial I'm pitching today. The basic idea is to show shots of the inside of the body, such as the heart, veins, that eventually leads out of the eye to reveal a bull rider about to take his ride.

Script:

“It starts with a pulse.
And then the adrenaline kicks in.
Flowing through every vein...
Every inch...
Every part of your body.
Some people call us crazy.
Well.... You got that right.”

Protect this house

Dammit, I'm on the fence about this one. It's missing something.

I'll keep at it, but for now, here it is in the early stages.

YES!

The powers-that-be selected my Seattle Mariners/Ford artwork for their baseball field!

Now I can say I did designs for a friggin' professional baseball team, and my stuff will be pasted all over their stadium and tv ads soon.

Whee!

One more

I got a good response from my creative team, so hopefully I'll be designing some Mariners baseball stuff soon.

More Seattle Mariners stuff!

MLB - These are just artwork comps and I'm not getting any money from this, so for God's sakes, don't sue!

Seattle Mariners

Our creative team's been tasked to produce graphics for Ford AND the Seattle Mariners.

6AM - Final

Done!

The "Kyyyle..." dialogue is a small homage to Steve Purcell, creator of Sam and Max.

6AM

The illustration is about 80% done. I changed the name to "6AM". I still have to ink some objects in the piece and add a bunch more decals, logos, and some small name placements of my favorite artists or friends.

I was too lazy to draw every window of every building, so I just changed the city skyline to a black silhouette. I finally got the lighting how I want it, though.

I think I've put in about 20 hours into this. I'd wake up at 2 or 3 am just to put in a couple hours into painting.

2010 Super Duty

I was shooting for a very white-hot, high-contrast, dusty, dirty, sweaty, oily look. The setting is a desert, and has a very dark feel to it. Maybe the SD can come in from off screen, stop, kick up a lot of dust.

Something with a lot of "oomph," or "grr".

Paper Route - Color Start

I'm starting to ink and paint my line art, and I think it's coming along well, albeit slowly.

I'm shooting for a very cartoony cel-shaded look.

Paper Route illustration

Here's the lineart for an illustration I'm working on.

I'll be taking this into Photoshop and adding the colors and "inking" it.

I'll explain more of what the piece is about later.

Addendum:

The piece is about whimsy and nostalgia, mostly about being a kid...the time where you could jump off a high roof and not think twice, or blow an entire week's paper route paycheck on that coveted new videogame.

Nebraska Billboard

Here's an actual photo of one of my billboards from last year out in Nebraska.

GoSmart Web page layout

This is my second webpage layout that I've ever done. I took some cues from the iPhone user interface with glassy buttons an' shiz.

Family pic done!

This badboy is done, but it looks WAY better hanging on a wall, as opposed to on your screen.

The tooth of the surface of the paper makes the pencil strokes look really rough up close.

Huge-ass Dallas Cowboys sign

Here's a mock-up of a ginormous Dallas Cowboys sign that'll hopefully get picked to be on the Cowboys stadium. Seriously, this thing'll be MASSIVE.

Just thought I'd add it.
